| Brent Moritz, PhD Candidate in Operations and Management Science at the Carlson School of Management, received the Best Presentation Award at the 2008 Behavioral Operations Conference held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on July 23-25th. His presentation titled /Behavior, Cognition and Individual Difference in the Newsvendor Problem/ tied for the top honor with Dr. Gary Bolton of Penn State. There were 19 presentations, mostly by faculty members from schools including The University of Virginia (Darden), The University of Pennsylvania (Wharton), Carnegie Mellon, Chicago (GSB), MIT (Sloan) and UCLA (Anderson) as well as a number of other universities.
The Behavioral Operations Conference is an annual invited conference that brings together researchers with an interest in the interface between human behavior studies and operations management, with the aim of sharing current work, identifying new research problems, and developing relationships between scholars in this emerging field. In 2008, the conference was held at the University of Alberta School of Business.
Brent’s research interests include Behavioral Operations, Supply Chain Management and Operations Strategy. His advisor is Dr. Arthur V. Hill, with committee members Dr. Karen Donohue, Dr. Kevin Linderman and Dr. Randy Fletcher. This research is supported by a Carlson School Dean’s Research Grant.
