| Dear Carlson Alumni,
Your network of friends and colleagues is one of your most valuable assets.
By strengthening your ties to the Carlson school and its network of 50,000 alumni, you are both helping your school and helping yourself. As Harvey Mackay, one of our most famous alumni, says, "Dig your well before you are thirsty". Your network can help you in the good times and more importantly, when things get tough. Building a strong network is something that doesn't happen quickly and it must be part of your career strategy.
Acting on the feedback from you, the Carlson School has invested in a new on-line networking platform that is accessible only to its alumni. CarlsonConnect is a complete replacement for the previous system called Alumni Online. This new platform is being used by many major universities across the nation, it has many easy to use features and its accessible from any web browser. Unlike systems that were designed for the masses (LinkedIn, Facebook, MySpace, etc.) CarlsonConnect is designed just for you, to help you grow the breadth and depth of your network with Carlson alumni and maintain a real-time connection to the school.
I invite you to log into the system and update your profile as soon as possible. Our goal is to have 2,500 alumni using the system by April. 2009 is a special year for the University of Minnesota and the Carlson School of Management. It's the second full year that Hanson Hall will provide the foundation of our undergraduate program and it's the inaugural season of the new TCF Bank football stadium. CarlsonConnect is a great way to stay on top of all that is going on and to strengthen or renew the life-long relationships that you developed at Carlson.
Thank you and Go Gophers!
