Nonprofits throughout the Twin Cities opened their doors Saturday, October 24 for Carlson students to use their business skills to make an impact on the community. The event was sponsored by the Carlson Undergraduate Chapter of Net Impact, and included 75 Carlson students.  Students completed business related projects at twelve different area nonprofits, including those in finance, marketing, and human resources.

“Net Impact and the students established great relationships with the nonprofits, and many of the projects will continue into the future.  It's wonderful that the students served as such great ambassadors for the Carlson School within the nonprofit community,” said Carlson staff member Mackenzie Sullivan, who serves as Net Impact’s staff advisor.

Net Impact’s mission is to incorporate social responsibility into the undergraduate curriculum, provide students greater career exploration, experience, and opportunities to apply and improve one's business knowledge through business-focused community service.

One of the three founders and co-presidents, Tommy DeMarco commented, “Carlson Goes to Work was just the beginning of many projects that we have lined up for students interested in improving the world through business. We will be working with various nonprofits in the Twin Cities to develop organizations’ websites, operations, marketing plans, and financial processes. It is really exciting to see so many students dedicated to using their business skills and knowledge for positive social change.”
