As a Part-Time MBA student and product analyst for Donaldson Company, Tamara Redmond still finds time to serve on the program's Leadership Council and orientation committee. Despite her busy schedule, she is committed to giving back to the school.
"I think it's important to be a part of a larger community," she says. "I like to get involved and meet people. And Carlson really listens to students."
Through her involvement in the orientation committee, Tamara speaks to incoming Part-Time MBA students about her experiences at the Carlson School. "I tell them that you spend a lot of time working in groups," she says. "It's amazing what you can learn by working under tight deadlines with people from different disciplines."
She also talks about the school's Business Career Center. "Right after I started the program," she says, "I met with a career coach and took a couple of workshops. The center is open when I'm on campus after work, and I scheduled a time to meet with a coach when it was convenient for me."
Tamara's ultimate goal is to pursue a career in marketing and finance. "I don't want just any job," she says. "An MBA will give me the opportunity to do the type of work I really want to do."
