Kimberly Scow, '91 MA-IR

Kimberly Scow received her M.A. degree in Industrial Relations from the Carlson School of Management in 1991. Since graduation, she has held various positions in human resources and currently is the Manager of HR Strategy, Planning & Communications for Chevron Corporation.

Kimberly chose graduate education at the Carlson School because of the “reputation of the program” and because she was a Graduate School Fellowship recipient. “The fellowship funded a significant portion of my education and was a catalyst for me to leave my hometown and go to Minnesota to attend a nationally-recognized HR/IR program.”

She feels that her degree has provided her with a “strong grounding in the core theory and practice of the human resources management.” She advises students considering the program that “as a profession, human resources is in a ‘growth spurt’ in terms of its potential impact and importance in organizations. The advanced degree provides important context and critical knowledge.”
