On-Campus Interviewing
Over 100 companies come to campus each year to interview students for permanent positions and internships. Students may interview during fall and spring semesters. Opportunities to sign up for interviews and interview schedules are posted weekly on The Edgetem
Internships On-campus interviewing for internships primarily occurs from the end of January through March. The Edge is the system that administers this process.
However, some companies recruit interns in the fall only; thus, star checking The Edge in the fall.
A student can earn academic credit through the Accounting Department for an accounting internship. Interviews are conducted and coordinated through the Undergraduate Business Career Center at the beginning of October. Tax and audit internships are available with public accounting firms for tax season and during the summer.
Permanent Jobs On-campus interviewing for permanent jobs primarily occurs from the end of September through the middle of December. There is usually a moderate permanent recruiting activity in the spring semester as well. The Edge is the system that administers this process.
External Job Postings Several hundred companies recruit Carlson students through the external job postings on The Edge, which lists many full-time jobs for permanent positions and internships. Postings are for positions that companies will not be interviewing for on-campus. Students can access these from the C.A.R.S web site. Students can set up an “agent,” which will automatically send external job postings that match their registration criteria.
Company Information Sessions Many companies hold information sessions prior to their interviews on campus – a few weeks before the interview or possibly day before. These sessions are extremely valuable and the recruiters expect students on their schedules to be there. You must register ahead of time through The Edge If you are not on the interview schedule, you can still usually attend the information session for networking opportunities as well as the possibility of getting on the interviewer’s schedule. Students can set up an “agent” to have reminders sent about upcoming Info Sessions associated with postings the student has preferenced for. The agent will also remind students of Info Sessions coming up that the student has RSVP'd for. Dress is typically business casual.
Resume Search Companies are able to search The Edge for students to fill various internship and full-time positions. In order for students to be considered, they must first register on The Edge and upload their resume.
Career Counseling The Undergraduate Counselors are available for assistance with career planning, self-assessment, resume writing, interviewing techniques, interview evaluations, job search strategy and other career-related/job hunting issues.
