Your Job Search Strategy

You are in charge of developing and implementing your job and career strategy. This section highlights a variety of alternatives for you to consider. Your own resources will open up even more options for you.

When developing a strategy, remember that no single strategy is best for all people. Clearly, you must feel comfortable with your approach and what works best for you may not work the best for someone else. Likewise, another student’s strategy may not be right for you.

Be creative in your approach. Follow your instincts and your brain. The great part about your strategy is that you control it. Make full use of your talents in developing and pursuing your strategy.

In this section, you will learn about:

  • The Business Career Center
  • Mass Mailings
  • ”Drop In” on an Employer
  • Cold Calling an Employer
  • Placement Agencies
  • Federal and State Employment Agencies
  • Job Strategy Methods
  • Networking
  • Informational Interviews
  • Phone Networking
  • Final Tips: Keys for Career Planning & Job Hunting
  • Final Words: Coping with your Job Search
