Final Words: Coping with your job search

  • Keep in good physical shape with regular exercise.
  • Talk with other people currently searching for jobs. Meet with them on a regular basis and discuss your progress. Get helpful feedback, and give some in return.
  • Get enough sleep and nourish your body.
  • Maintain a balanced social life.
  • Devote time to your career life every day.
  • And remember that success is not solely a function of a fulfilling career but--even more-- a fulfilling life.
  • Read "What Color is Your Parachute?"

What is Success?

To laugh often and much;

To win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;

To earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;

To appreciate beauty;

To find the best in others;

To leave the world a bit better, whether by a
healthy child, a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;

To know even one life has breathed
easier because you have lived;

This is to have succeeded.
