The Niche of the Enterprise Professional Director

Carlson School Enterprise Wordmark 2The directors of the Carlson School Enterprises have a penchant for the unusual.

When asked why he joined the school as professional director of Carlson Consulting Enterprise, Phil Miller called the job unique—in the literal sense.

“A job like mine doesn’t exist in other places, at least not in the same way,” Miller said.

“It’s such a unique opportunity,” echoed Corey Redfield, professional advisor for the fixed income fund in the Carlson Funds Enterprise. “It’s just a very interesting position.”

Doug Johnson used the word “odd.” He said when former dean David Kidwell asked him to help form what would later be Carlson Ventures Enterprise, “It was an odd thing.”

“I’ve always done odd things,” said Johnson. “I like to establish new things.”

The Carlson School takes pride in its student-run business Enterprises as top-of-the-line, hands-on learning programs offering an MBA experience not to be had anywhere else. As practicing professionals in an academic setting, the Enterprises’ professional roles are rather unique themselves.
