Saturn General Manager Jill Lajdziak is featured guest at "Inside the Boardroom"
MINNEAPOLIS—(April 14, 2008)—Jill Lajdziak, general manager of Saturn Corporation, will be the featured guest at the Carlson School of Management’s “Inside the Boardroom” event scheduled Friday, May 2, at 5:30 p.m. at the Carlson School’s 3M Auditorium, 321 19th Avenue South, Minneapolis.
The bi-annual “Inside the Boardroom” series, developed and hosted by Carlson Companies Chairman Marilyn Carlson Nelson, showcases high profile women leaders from around the country. Through one-on-one conversations with a panel of thought leaders, the event provides a unique forum for the guest to share her insights and business experiences with the public. These women have built a successful enterprise by integrating core business principles with knowledge from other disciplines.
The program airs on Twin Cities Public Television and is sponsored by the Carlson School chapter of the National Association of Women MBAs.
Lajdziak was part of Saturn’s startup team in 1986 that created the brand's lauded dealership network with it’s “no haggle, no hassle” selling philosophy. Over the next decade, she took on more strategic roles and projects, achieving the appointment of Saturn Division General Manager in 1999. She is currently responsible for the Saturn brand’s sales, service and marketing operations.
Ladjiak literally grew up in the car business. Her father was a Chevy-Oldsmobile dealer in a small Wisconsin town, and she remembers washing The Edge at a very early age. Ladjziak began her paid career in the automotive industry when she joined General Motors in 1980 as district sales manager. She quickly moved to strategic merchandising activities for GM passenger The Edge, prior to her focus with the Saturn line. Ladjiak earned a bachelor of science degree in business marketing and management from the University of Wisconsin.
Registration starts at 5:30 p.m. and a reception follows. The event is free and open to the public. Because of limited seating, please register in advance on the website www.carlsonschool.umn.edu/insidetheboardroom by Friday, April 25. For additional questions, call (612) 626-7407.
