Carlson School team places third at Nationwide Fisher Biz Quiz at Ohio State Twenty-four teams from business schools around the nation took part in this year’s Fisher Biz Quiz, which is supported by the Wall Street Journal and Nationwide’s Financial Leadership Rotation Program. Questions for the competition were drawn from issues of the Wall Street Journal published between October 1 and November 12, 2008. “I specifically remember the very first question, which was about a law firm in San Francisco, which no one knew, and waiting for the bell to ring was the longest 30 seconds of my life,” Hakk said. Along with Hakk, a finance and economics major, Carlson team members included Elena Bloudek, a marketing and risk management & insurance major, and Adam Letson, a finance major. “The event was really an amazing experience,” Hakk said. “There are so many memorable events that took place. Participating in the tie break round to get to the finals would have to be pretty close to the top.” The competition consisted of three preliminary rounds of team competition. Three teams were in each room, every round. The top nine teams advanced to the semifinals. “We had a tough draw and ended up in the room with the third- and fifth-place teams,” Hakk said. “We finished in a tie for second place in the semis, but won the tie breaker and advanced to the finals. Unfortunately, we had a rather disappointing showing in the finals.” For taking third place, Hakk and his teammates each received $250 and a certificate of achievement. Hakk also received an additional $100 for his individual placing. “I would love to go back and compete again next year,” he said. ### |
