NORMAN L. CHERVANY is the Carlson School Professor of Information & Decision Sciences at the Carlson School of Management. His teaching and research interests focus on the effects of technology on the design and performance of work and organizations, and the design and implementation of strategy, with emphasis on the role of technology in these processes. Chervany has published widely in Management Sciences, Decision Sciences, MIS Quarterly, Academy of Management Review, Information and Management, and The American Statistician. He holds a BS degree in Mathematics from Mount Union College, and an MBA and DBA from Indiana University.
SUSAN GEBELEIN is Executive Vice President, Client Relationship Management at Personnel Decisions International (PDI) where she has facilitated PDI’s strategic HR leadership. Prior to her current role, Gebelein directed global development businesses and lead PDI’s North American Operating Offices. She heads PDI’s publishing department and is a primary author of Successful Manager’s Handbook and Successful Executive’s Handbook. She holds a BA from Michigan State University and an MS from the University of Minnesota.
DAN HALVORSEN is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School, Department of Physiology and Sports Medicine. He is also Medical Director of the Kohl's Power Cubed Exercise Medicine Clinic at Children's Hospitals, and the President and CEO of Lifestyle Design Inc. Halvorsen, a physiologist and nutritionist specializing in human performance, works with executives, corporations, professional athletes, teams, and international sports performance programs. He consults and lectures on human performance, wellness, medical cost containment, human performance, personal energy, health, nutrition, exercise, fitness and well-being, and ‘body x mind spirit.’ Halvorsen holds a PhD and MS from the University of Minnesota.
LEO HOPF, founder and CEO of Teamhopf, specializes in working with senior executive teams to bring clarity and alignment to their most pressing strategic issues. Hopf teaches at Stanford University and the Carlson School of Management, where he has been named a Fellow of Executive Education. Hopf was formerly Managing Director of Strategic Decisions Group (SDG), a 70-person strategy consulting firm. He has substantial international experience, and has led major consulting engagements in Indonesia, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and Kuwait. Hopf earned an MBA degree with highest distinction from the Amos Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth College, and has BS degrees in Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
EDWARD J. JOYCE is Professor of Accounting and Associate Dean of MBA programs and Executive Education at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. Previously, he spent five years on the faculty of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. Joyce also has lectured at the University of Illinois, the University of Michigan, the University of Glasgow, Scotland, the Warsaw School of Economics, and Kasetsart University in Bangkok. He received a BSBA from Ohio State University and an MAS and PhD in accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.

ALFRED MARCUS is a Professor of Strategic Management and Organization at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota and co-director of the School’s Center for Integrative Leadership. In addition to teaching courses in ethics and leadership at the Carlson School, Marcus teaches in the Management of Technology Program in the Center for Technological Development and Leadership at the University of Minnesota where he also serves as the Edson Spencer Endowed Chair in Strategy and Technological Leadership. His current work focuses on the factors that result in long-term business success. Marcus has consulted with numerous major corporations. He earned Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Chicago and his PhD from Harvard University.
PETER M. RAMSTAD is a vice president with The Toro Company where he is responsible for business and strategic development activities, and the Center for Advanced Turf Technology (CATT). Prior to joining Toro, he was Executive Vice President with Personnel Decisions International. Ramstad has undergraduate degrees in math and accounting and significant graduate studies in economics, mathematics, and accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, and a member of the AICPA.
KENNETH J. ROERING is Academic Director for Executive Education and Professor of Marketing in the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. He is also Executive Vice President of Strategic Management at Marshall BankFirst Corporation. Roering has served as a visiting professor or distinguished guest lecturer at leading universities, including Northwestern University, Harvard University, University of Michigan, University of Virginia, Université Jean Moulin (Lyon, France), and the Warsaw School of Economics (Poland). He has published more than 70 articles in a number of professional journals, written two books and edited three collections of scholarly writings. Roering earned his doctorate from the University of Iowa.

PRITI PRADHAN SHAH is Associate Professor of Strategic Management and Organization at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. She developed her expertise in negotiations at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, which is known for its specialized negotiation expertise. She also teaches Organizational Behavior, Organizational Change, Leadership, and Groups. In addition to the Carlson School, she has taught at MIT and Yale. Shah has undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Biology from the University of Rochester. She earned her Masters and PhD in Organizational Behavior from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
ERIC SVAAN is an instructor with the Michigan Business School. Previously he was with the School of Industrial Administration, Carnegie Mellon University. Svaan's teaching and research interests are Cell Manufacturing; Management of Quality and Quality Learning; Manufacturing Technology Management; Service Operations Quality; Manufacturing Cost Analysis; and Environmental Management for Manufacturing Enterprises. Svaan received his MS from Carnegie Mellon University; an MBA, Information Systems/Operations Management from Indiana University; and an MDiv from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
ROGER B. UPSON is Faculty Director of the Mayo/Carlson Programs, University of Minnesota and an independent consultant. He has provided consulting services in strategic planning, financial management, and quality improvement to healthcare, financial, manufacturing, and academic organizations worldwide. Previously he was senior executive of an integrated delivery system, a hospital and physician clinic organization, a PPO, an HMO management company, and a multi-specialty physician group practice in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Upson holds PhD and MBA degrees from the University of Michigan, and a BSc from the London School of Economics.
AKS ZAHEER is the Curtis L. Carlson Chair in Strategic Management, and Director of the Strategic Management Research Center, Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. He has extensive industry experience including three years with Colgate-Palmolive in India, and five years in the consumer products industry in Nigeria; he has advised numerous prominent corporations on strategic planning and strategic assessments. Zaheer has received many teaching awards including the Curtis Cup, MBA Teacher of the Year, and a commendation for teaching excellence in Business Week's Guide to the 50 Top Business Schools. He received his PhD from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

JON LIMBACHER, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra (SPCO), has direct oversight responsibility for development, marketing, and public relations, as well as maintaining general oversight of the daily, monthly, and yearly activities of the organization. He has managed the orchestra’s annual campaign; endowed and planned giving; tour, broadcast, and recording sponsorships; and all marketing and public relations efforts. Limbacher has fostered significant progress in both fundraising and audience development for the Orchestra. Previously he worked in supervisory roles with the Saint Louis Symphony and the Cleveland Orchestra. Limbacher holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Kent State University, Ohio.
FRANK RUSSOMANNO is President and Chief Executive Officer of Imation Corp. Previously, he was Chief Operating Officer and held the position of President of Imation Data Storage and Information Management; he began his career at 3M Company as a sales coordinator and was promoted to a sales representative position for the magnetic/audio/video recording business in the greater metropolitan New York area. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Content Delivery & Storage Association and the board of the Merrick Community Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. Russomanno holds a BA from Seton Hall University and has undertaken graduate work at the University of Oklahoma and Monmouth College, Illinois.
