LMS Faculty QuickStart

Example Welcome Email


Teaching with Carlson LMS in 10 Steps


Step 1: If you want your TA to access Carlson LMS with you, contact

  • Carlson School IT HelpDesk or
  • LMS cluster representative.

Step 2: Login to Carlson LMS


Step 3: Build new or copy a previous course 

  

Step 4: Add Sessions LMS Session Icon

Step 5: Add Files to Sessions LMS Excel Icon LMS PPT icon

Step 6: Post your syllabus (either "LMS built-in syllabus" or your own file) LMS Word Icon

Step 7: Release your Carlson LMS files to WebCT (remove the red LMS Unavailable)

Step 8: Email your students a welcome (Internet Explorer works best)

You may want to remind your students to find your Carlson LMS files in WebCT by finding your course page either at the MYU Portal at http://myu.umn.edu or in WebCT/Vista at http://www1.webvista.umn.edu

LMS Vista LogoStep 9: Re-grant "denied" students access in WebCT  See Tip #15. 


LMS Vista LogoStep 10: Go to the WebCT section  associated with your Carlson LMS access.  From Carlson LMS, you can click "Vista Home" button. In WebCT you will access the electronic gradebook, create discussions, etc, if you use these tools.
