Management Information Systems (20 credits)


The Management Information Systems (MIS) major prepares Carlson School undergraduate students to be leaders in conceptualizing, prescribing, developing, and delivering leading-edge information system applications that support business processes and management decision making The student selecting this major will receive the academic preparation to understand the functions of information systems in organizations and a detailed knowledge of the analysis, design, and operation of information systems.


Carlson School students selecting the MIS major will begin their formal training with IDSc 3001 in their sophomore year of study or during the summer prior to their junior year. The curriculum design is sequential, so students must start and finish the major in the prescribed sequence. By completing the majority of the coursework during their junior year, students will be well-prepared for summer internship opportunities before their senior year.
