Important Datesfor Graduates

 

Anytime

 

  • Review the laptop warranty (to be updated soon). Upon graduation, the Carlson help desk can no longer provide service for your laptop. For future service, see your warranty.
  • Check with the Graduate Business Career Center to make sure your resume is on file and you have the latest schedule for job interviews.
  • Your University e-mail account will remain active for 3 semesters beyond your last semester of registration. You can link to Academic Computing to find out more information on your University e-mail account or contact the University e-mail account office.

 

September/October

  • Complete all steps in Graduation Application Procedures.  The University's due date for completion of these steps is Debember 1, 2008 for spring 2009 graduates.  Please plan to complete all steps ahead of this deadline.  If you should have questions about these procedures contact Stephanie Nichols, s-nich@umn.edu.  

 

March

  • You will receive an invitation to graduation in your Carlson mailbox. Please return the RSVP card by the date noted on the card.
  • GradFest (dates TBA) -  visit Grad Fest at the Coffman bookstore to order your cap and gown, graduation announcements, and college ring. (Do not try to order your cap and gown online.) 
  • Carlson Scholars - this designation honors the top 10 percent of each graduate program's graduating class, based on grade point average earned through the fall semester prior to commencement. These students represent the highest level of academic achievement across the Carlson School of Management and are recognized at the spring commencement ceremony.

 

April

  • Fill out the Alumni Leadership Pledge form and include your new mailing and employer information.  This information will be used to ensure that you receive information about your access to the Alumni Online Directory after you have been cleared from the University for graduation.  

 

May

  • If you are attending the graduation ceremony make sure to turn in the cards (name and reception) from your graduation invite by May 1st.

 

Late May - Early June

  • You'll receive final clearance through the Full-Time MBA office once all grades have been turned in to the Office of the Registrar. For spring study abroad students, this may take longer. Please note that conferment of your degree is contingent upon satisfactory completion of college and University of Minnesota requirements, including payment of all assessed university fees, fines, and bills.

 

3 - 4 months after clearance       

  • The Office of the Registrar will mail your diploma. If you do not receive a diploma, please review the duplicate diploma information .
  • Once your alumni data is uploaded to Alumni Online, you will be able to access your personal alumni profile and update your contact information, employer information, email address, etc., as well as search for your fellow classmates.  PLEASE NOTE: You will be able to access it using your University of Minnesota Internet ID and password (the same as when you were a student) so be sure to keep track of them.  You will also receive a letter from the Alumni Relations Office to let you know when you are able to access it and how to log in.  Direct any questions about this to the alumni directory email account.
