The mission of the Carlson School of Management Alumni Advisory Board is to provide advice to the Dean and the Director of Alumni Relations on how to best create a partnership with the School's alumni community to ensure the continued excellence of the Carlson School of Management.
The Alumni Advisory Board is comprised of Carlson School alumni who are senior level executives in the local and national business community. The board is affiliated with the Carlson School of Management Alumni Society, a dues-based membership organization under the umbrella of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association (UMAA).

 The board works to strengthen the Carlson School of Management alumni network and connection to the School through leadership in several key areas including leadership, professional networking, national outreach, undergraduate program expansion, and general advocacy and ambassadorship for the School.
In pursuit of its mission, the Carlson School Alumni Advisory Board works to:
- Facilitate the development of mutually beneficial partnerships between the School, alumni and the business community;
- Provide continuous feedback to the School about the needs of alumni and the business community and the degree to which the School is meeting those needs;
- Help maximize voluntary and financial support from alumni for the School;
- Promote the School effectively to other alumni, prospective students, and the corporate community;
- Participate in long-range planning for the School and provide input into key School decisions;
- Support the School's strategic goals and yearly objectives;
- Oversee School-wide alumni special events and programming working with the director of alumni relations.
