The Georgianna E. Herman Library


 

The Center for Human Resources and Labor Studies Library is a small reference library created specifically for the HRIR program.  We specialize in the areas of human resource management and labor relations.  The Library is utilized by HRIR students, but also by faculty, alumni, the professional community, and the general public. 

 

We are located in Room 3-306 in the Carlson School of Management.  The CHRLS library can be used by anyone; however, ONLY faculty and graduate students from the Center for Human Resources and Labor Studies may check items out.

  • The Herman Library collection includes labor union newspapers, newsletters, working papers, court cases, arbitration awards, federal and state laws, theses, loose-leaf reporting services, and miscellaneous pamphlet materials  
  • The Library is open to the public

CHRLS Herman Library Collection

The library's collection covers a wide range of topics, including recruitment, training, compensation, job satisfaction, motivation, stress, drug testing, strategic management, staffing, effects of technological change, mergers, diversity, labor relations, leadership, unions, organizational behavior, absenteeism, and turnover.

 

In addition to books, the library maintains print subscriptions to more than 100 professional and trade journals and has access to the large electronic collection of the University of Minnesota Library.
