You can search for Learning Objects and Learning Modules in the My Courses and My Stuff area of LMS System using the "Search" function which is available from the learning object drop-down. From your search results you select the resulting items you wish to obtain, and then you are returned to the area you came from (e.g. a course or your My Stuff area).
Scenario: Searching for a Word document
If you are in My Courses and you know you used a Word document in a previous course but you cannot remember exactly where, you may use the Search function to search your Learning Object Repository.
Given below is a description of how to use the Search tool to rake files from your previous courses or My Stuff Area.
The search function helps you in finding files from previous courses or from the My Stuff Area. It also helps in adding the selected courses into the session.
To search, you would use the same dropdown box that would make a New File in a session. Select the option search from the drop down menu.
This would pop up a window with various options. One can type in the key word for the search and search the different course containers for the file. Options such as choosing a Term, Object type (Learning Objects / Modules) and the File Formats ( in this case Microsoft Word ), Destination for the Search ( My Stuff / My Courses)are also available, and can be used for advanced search.
Please note that specifying the Course is necessary, while the rest could be set unchanged to their default setting. Not selecting the course does not fetch any results.
By clicking the search button, we can trigger the operation that would fetch all the search results. If there are no results found the tool notifies of no matched results.
By moving the cursor over the search results, we can get a brief description of the file and its contents. This would assist in identifying unique files from the files with the same name.Once we have the search results, we can selectively add the files to the specific session. By clicking Add Selected, the tool copies the file from the previous reference to the current session.
