Graduate Semester Exchange in Costa Rica

INCAE »

Costa Rica, an anomaly of political stability in a Central American region marked by significant change in the 1980s, has emerged as a leader for all of Latin America in international business. Traditionally relying on the growth and export of agricultural based industries like bananas and coffee, the economy has recreated itself as a forerunner in the new industries of ecotourism, software development work, and the outsourcing of financial services from North America and Europe. A semester at INCAE puts students into international groups working together to find new and creative solutions to real problems faced in the region and around the world.

INCAE, founded in 1964 through an initiative driven by the Central American business community and modeled after Harvard Business School, is regularly ranked as the top MBA program in Latin America. Students and faculty come from more than 15 different nations to collaborate in its mission to promote a better Central America and move collectively toward a successful future for all of the Americas. INCAE is dedicated to preparing international managers with a global viewpoint committed to furthering the advancement of environmental sustainability and responsible “green” business.

Beyond the stellar and rigorous academics at INCAE, Costa Rica provides a brilliant environment challenged by few other locations in the world. More than a quarter of the country is protected forests and reserves and boasts internationally recognized models to promote environmental sustainability with positive economic growth. It is more profitable for Costa Rica to protect its natural resources than to exploit them for export. Visit Toruguero National Park to witness sea turtles coming ashore to lay eggs or hike in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve on the way to a breathtaking view of the canopy.
