Ji Kyung Park

Ji Kyung Park, a fifth year student in the marketing department's Ph.D. program, came to the Carlson School following completion of an M.A. in statistics at Columbia University and an M.B.A. at Yonsei Univeristy (Seoul, Korea). She also has field experience as a researcher for Interbrand in Seoul, Korea.  Park's current research focuses on understanding how self-perceptions influence people's consumption behavior.


Current Research

Park studies how motivations to maintain or enhance the self influence consumer behavior and explain various marketing phenomenon by drawing upon theories such as:

  • Self-esteem
  • Implicit self-theory
  • Self-affirmation
  • Social identity
