Students must submit an online application and upload the required materials by midnight on the deadline date. We do not accept paper applications, and incomplete applications will not be reviewed. To view a chart of application cycles, click here.
A Complete Application Includes:
2. One uploaded essay per program
3. One uploaded resume or curriculum vitae (c.v.) per program
Your application is not complete until you click ‘Submit’. International Programs will charge your student account a non-refundable $50.00 application fee within 5-10 business days. Once you have submitted an application, you will not be able to edit the application.
Click here to access the online application form. You will need to log in with your University of Minnesota x.500 username and password.
Please review the sections below carefully as the essay questions and instructions differ for short-term and semester length programs.
Global Enrichment Short-term Programs:
Please write an essay of no more than 2 pages that answers the essay questions listed below. Use double spacing, 12-point font, and normal margins. If you apply for two programs within the same application cycle, you must write separate essays for each program. Each essay must be saved as an individual document.
Questions
1. This program will challenge you academically, professionally, and culturally. Why do you want to study on this program?
2. What research have you done to prepare your application?
3. In what ways can you contribute to making this experience meaningful for the entire group?
You can apply to no more than two short-term programs at a time, and you must rank your choices (1, 2). Applying to multiple programs does not affect your chances of success. You can expect to receive notification within 4 weeks of the application deadline. Notification is sent to your University of Minnesota email account.
Global Immersion Semester Exchange:
Please write an essay of no more than 500 words that answers the question below. Use double spacing, 12-point font, and normal margins. If you apply to more than one partner institution, we encourage you to write separate essays for each location. These essays must be written consecutively in the same document.
Question
1. How will a semester overseas advance your academic, professional, and personal goals?
You can select up to five partner institutions for consideration. Please rank your selections (1, 2, 3, etc.). We encourage you to select multiple locations, as space at some partner institutions is more limited than at others.
For the February 28th priority deadline, you can expect to receive notification by March 31st. Notification is sent to your University of Minnesota email account.
Application Cycles & Deadlines:
You will need to wait until the online application opens for each program. The application cycle refers to the period in which you can apply for a given program. The application will close at midnight on the final day of the application cycle. Please see the chart below for application cycles. You can only apply for a program during the cycle that it is open.
Programs that are listed at 'Rolling' may close prior to the deadline date if the program fills, so early application is encouraged.
Programs that are listed as 'Priority Deadline' will continue to accept applications after the specified deadline if the program does not fill. Applications will be reviewed on a space available basis.
