Exchange student -registration guidelines

As an exchange student, you cannot register for classes until you arrive on campus. However, filling out a request form lets us know what courses you intend to choose. Since we are unable to register you until you arrive on campus, please be flexible in your choices.

We highly recommend that you get all courses -- including any alternates you select -- approved by your home university before you arrive on campus. This will make it easier to transfer credits back to your home university after you study abroad.

Why can't I register for classes now?

Due to University policies in compliance with US visa regulations, exchange students are unable to register for classes until they arrive on campus. We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the courses you want to take and receive approval from your home institution before you leave. Please keep in mind that some courses may be full, so it's a good idea to have several alternate courses that fulfill the requirements of your home institution.

Registration will take place approximately one week before classes begin. If you are REQUIRED by your home institution to take certain courses while on exchange, we may be able to reserve seats, but only in special cases. We will do our best to reserve a spot, but in some cases space may be limited. You will not be able to drop or switch reserved courses after arriving on campus.
