PhD programadmission criteria

At the Department of Information and Decision Sciences, we strive to achieve a balanced mix of students in our PhD program. Admissions criteria include:


GMAT or GRE

Although not definitive, the graduate school expects minimums for GMAT and GRE scores of 600 and 1380 (V+Q) respectively.


TOEFL (foreign applicants)

The graduate school expects a score of 600 (250 computer version) total and 60 on section 1 (25 computer version).


Undergraduate & graduate GPA

We consider the quality of the school(s) attended, major field, graduate experience, and degrees.


Work experience

We consider the relevance of your work experience for research and practice.


Research

We consider demonstrated research capability through undergraduate and graduate research projects, work related projects, and publications.


Letters of recommendation

We consider the strength and sources of your letters of recommendation.


Statement of purpose

• Expressed area of research interest
• Expressed understanding of academic research
• Fit of research interests with those of the faculty
• Expression of career goals


Language skills

Foreign applicants must demonstrate English language skills.
