- All applicants must submit an application fee. The fee is set by the Graduate School and cannot be waived or deferred.
- The current fee is currently $75 for international applicants and $55 for US citizens and permanent residents.

- Submit two sets of transcripts from each college or university attended. Send one set to the Graduate School and one set to the PhD office.
- If requested, international applicants may need to send additional transcript information.

- Submit a copy of the statement of purpose via the online Apply Yourself application system.
- The statement should clearly identify your planned area of concentration and describe your career objectives, research interests, teaching/research experience, and publications.

- We accept mailed recommendations, or you can use the form in the online application.
- Recommenders may mail letters to the PhD office on official letterhead using their preferred format.
- You may include sealed letters of recommendation with your application instead of sending them separately. Recommenders must sign their name across the sealed envelope flap.
- Please send the PhD office a list of recommenders' names, titles, and current place of employment, indicating if we should expect letters to arrive by mail or online.

- You must have taken the test within the last 5 years.
- The computerized test is usually given every month, and it may take 2-3 weeks for official scores to reach us.
- If you send us a photocopy of your scores, we can begin processing your file while waiting for the official scores.
- When requesting Pearson VUE to send official reports, use the correct codes:
- GMAT - institution code D2N-VJ-74
- GRE - institution code 6874, department code 4201

- We require scores for foreign applicants whose native language is not English and who have not attended at least 24 quarter credits/16 semester credits at a US college within the last two years.
- For complete instructions, refer to the Graduate School application, section B: English language proficiency examinations.
- When requesting official TOEFL scores to be sent to us, designate institution code 6874 to send them directly to the Graduate School. Contact the IELTS or MELAB administrators to determine the institution code.
- Include a photocopy of your scores with any materials you send to the PhD office.
