Instructions for Students - Learning Styles Inventory

Complete the Learning Styles Inventory for your instructor by ________(date)

There are no right or wrong answers, but you must select the best response to each item.  Print out the summary results of survey and bring to class. We will also look at a report that summarizes styles across the class.

To take the learning Styles Inventory, follow these steps:

• Open your browser and go to this URL: http://apps.csom.umn.edu/ole/learningstyles . 
• Log in using your X.500 ID and password.  The Learning Styles tool will be displayed.  You will see instructions on the right and options on the left.
• Click on the "Take Inventory" link on the left.
• Complete the inventory by selecting option a or option b for each of the 44 items.  For some items, choosing may be difficult but you must choose either a or b.
• When you're finished, click the Submit button.  You will see a report of your learning styles. 
  
• Print the report and bring it to class.  You may click on the "Style Descriptions" link on the left of the page to learn how you can use your knowledge of your preferences to improve your learning.  The "ILS Web Page" link will take you to the inventory developers' web site with more information on the instrument and learning styles.

Note:  You need only take the inventory once - it will then be available to instructors in all your CSOM courses.  You may return to the URL above at any time to get a report of your preferences or to retake the inventory.
