UMConnect is a conferencing and presentation tool that UMN Faculty, Staff and eligible graduate students can use to create online presentations or participate in online presentations.
Online Conferencing: To take advantage of online conferencing, administrators and participants meet synchronously to participate in a presentation. In these presentations, online video cameras may be used to view presenters. The presenters can use desktop sharing to show live screenrecordings of their desktop. The presenters can create participant surveys to gather input to questions during the presentation and participants can participate and ask questions via a chat function. Live presentations can be recorded. Instructors or administrators provide participants with a URL to connect.
Recorded Presentations: UM Connect has a Microsoft PowerPoint plug-in to easily create Flash-based audio lectures with PPT slides. Upon publishing the presentation to UMN's server, UM Connect transforms the local PPT presentation into an online Flash based presentation. Instructors provide students with a URL to view the presentation.
