2007-2008 FreshmanDegree Requirements


Students who entered the program as freshman in Fall 2007 will follow the degree requirements listed below.


Freshman Year

Students must complete all designated courses (*) with a C- or better.

ECON 1101 Principles of Microeconomics* (4 credits)
ECON 1102 Principles of Macroeconomics* (4 credits)
MATH 1142 Short Calculus* or MATH 1271, Calculus I* (4 credits)
WRIT 1301 or 1401 Freshman Writing, or equivalent (4 credits)
PSY 1001 Introduction to Psychology (4 credits)
Liberal Education Requirements (see below)


Sophomore Year

Fall Semester:
OMS 2550 Business Statistics: Data Sources, Presentation, and Analysis* (4 credits)
ACCT 2050 Introduction to Financial Accounting* (4 credits)
BA 3000 Career Skills (1 credit)
MGMT 3001 Fundamentals of Management* (3 credits)
Liberal Education Requirements (see below)

Spring Semester:

  • Immersion Core:
    • MKTG 3001 Principles of Marketing* (3 credits)
    • FINA 3001 Finance Fundamentals* (3 credits)
    • OMS 3001 Introduction to Operations Management* (3 credits)
    • MGMT 3004 Business Strategy* (3 credits)
  • One additional course of student's choice

 

Declaring your major

Students should declare their major when they have earned 50 credits and have completed or are completing their final tool course (Economics, Calculus, Accounting, and Statistics). All students should have a declared major by the time they have earned 60 credits.  Students may declare their major by filling out the major declaration form in the Undergraduate Program office or by submitting the request on-line.   Major/Minor Declaration Form

Declaring additional majors outside of Carlson

Carlson School students may choose to declare an additional major or minor from another college on the Twin Cities campus and should contact the specific department as early as possible to inquire about the admission or declaration requirements for their program. 



Junior Year

ACCT 3001 Introduction to Management Accounting* (3 credits)

IDSC 3001 Information Systems for Business Processes and Management* (3 credits) (students planning to major in MIS should complete this class during their sophomore year)
MGMT 3040 Environment of the International Firms* (3 credits)

Students will also start their major during their junior year and complete the requirements during their senior year.

Writing Intensive

In addition to freshman writing, students must complete at least four writing intensive courses. Two of the courses must be upper division courses, one of which must be taken in the student's major.
