Curriculum Changes, 2008-2009 Academic Year
New curriculum changes are in place this fall and include four key signature experiences:
- Immediate exposure to business education via a freshman contemporary management course.
- An immersion core of four key business courses to be taken in cohorts during the sophomore year.
- An unprecedented international experience requirement for all undergraduate students with programs offered across the globe.
- A capstone experience within each academic major.
Academics
- 10 majors, including a new public/nonprofit management major.
- Nine minors.
- Over 20 Carlson School undergraduate student organizations.
- Admission to the Carlson School is competitive. On average, incoming freshmen rank in the top seven percent of their graduating class and have an average ACT score of 29.
- Ranked among the top schools in the nation, the Carlson School’s undergraduate program features a strong experiential learning focus, including internship and mentorship experiences, interaction with the business community and international opportunities.
- To meet growing demand, a new major in public/non-profit management was recently added in conjunction with the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs. This major is expected to grow in popularity as more companies strive towards social responsibility.
- The Carlson School is the only business school in the Twin Cities that is accredited by AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. AACSB is the premier accrediting agency for undergraduate and graduate business administration and accounting programs.
Undergraduate class of 2012
- Over 4,100 freshmen applications were received for fall 2008 admission. To date, 1,062 students have been admitted into the program, of which 450 students plan to matriculate in fall 2008.
