Carlson LMS is operating normally and connected to WebVista 4. However, without further development, it is likely the Carlson LMS system will be phased out in the future. At this time, the Carlson IT department encourages faculty to consider using UMN WebVista natively (without Carlson LMS) or to use UMN Moodle.
Carlson LMS receives update allowing instructors and staff to download LMS files. This updates was created to allow faculty to download their LMS files with the intent to make it easier to switch to WebVista or Moodle, instead of using Carlson LMS.
1. LMS/WebVista courses Summer 2006 and earlier are archived
Instructors needing access to archived courses/content, can coordinate a request through the Carlson IT faculty/staff service center. The requestor should provide the course, number, section(s), and terms of the course needed (e.g. MBA 6300 Section 001 Fall 2008.) Allow a one week turnaround time. Such courses will be brought back online only for a temporary period of time.
2. LMS/WebVista sections Fall 2006 through Spring 2008 were copied to the new WebVista 4 environment.
These copied webvista courses are "live" but have lost their LMS smartlink in the WebVista section. If instructors wish to provide previous students access to their LMS files for these courses, instructors must re-apply the LMS smartlink in the webvista section. Instructors may also submit a request to have the smartlink re-applied for them by contacting the Carlson IT faculty/staff service center. Allow a one week turnaround. Provide the following information: course, section, term, primary instructor, e.g. MBA 6300 Section 001 Fall 2008
