History
Graduate Women in Business was founded in 1979 at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business. Created to address the issues women face in business, the organization was dedicated to the education and promotion of women in business. Recently renamed National Association of Women MBAs, the organization is still committed to these principles and is now headquartered at Rice University Jones Graduate School of Management.

Women’s Initiative at the Carlson School of Management
The NAWMBA chapter at Carlson works closely with the Diversity Initiatives office to increase the number of qualified women MBA applicants, provide networking opportunities with professionals committed to the development of women in business and to create a supportive environment for women enrolled in the program.
