Your Preparation for Post-MBA Career Begins Today!

The Graduate Business Career Center (GBCC) staff welcomes you to the MBA program at the Carlson School of Management. We are excited you chose The Carlson School and look forward to working with you throughout the next two years. It may seem early, but your preparation for your post-MBA career begins today!

While your formal start for the career search will start on August 24th with the Career Leadership Academy, we have several tasks you need to complete before you arrive on campus. See the information below for a complete list of pre-arrival tasks. It is important that you meet all listed deadlines so that you are prepared for the Career Leadership Academy and the first search process – an internship between your first and second year in the program. Visit this site often as updates to assignments and tasks will be made throughout the summer.

Prep Work Checklist / Timeline
Below is a list of tasks that will help you get started. Everything in this timeline is required unless noted.

¤ Explore the MBA marketplace and MBA-level careers.

¤ Create a graduate-level resume and positioning statement.

¤ Email resume and positioning statement to the Graduate Business Career Center (at gbccmail@umn.edu) by July 10.

¤ Complete the Career Intake Form and email it to gbccmail@umn.edu.

¤ Schedule and complete initial Career Planning and Resume Review Session with the GBCC career coach in July.

¤ Complete your Mock Interview Prep Work.

¤ Attend Career Leadership Academy on August 24-28, and optional workshops throughout the Fall.
