The Global Impact of Food Protection and Defense, June 10, 2011
Food impacts each of our lives every day. Protecting and defending our food system is essential to reducing the potential for contamination and mitigating catastrophic public health and economic effects of attack on the food system. CIBER and the National Center for Food Protection and Defense (NCFPD) offered a seminar addressing the global impact of food protection and defense. This seminar provided information, tools, and expert opinion. The Food Safety Modernization Act, the first major overhaul in food laws in 70 years, was also discussed.

The CIBER Short Term Study Abroad (STSA) Conference encouraged and educated institutions of higher education in the programmatic, logistical, evaluation and execution of short term study abroad programs. It is an annual conference organized on a rotating basis by one of the members of the CIBER STSA consortium and conducted at the site of the annual NAFSA International conference each year.

Doing Business with France, May 12, 2011
The Minnesota International Center (MIC) collaborated with the French American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Minneapolis/St. Paul to present a special half-day business symposium on Doing Business with France. This symposium brought together French policymakers with prominent Minnesota business leaders and international business experts for an in-depth exploration of the French business climate within the current sociopolitical and economic context, with an emphasis on increasing reciprocal investment between France and Minnesota.

District Export Council Leadership Forum, April 11–12, 2011
The 2011 National District Export Council Leadership Forum included: a plenary session to discuss national policy positions and a planning session to discuss future conference dates, locations and planning responsibilities. Additional sessions focused on DEC Best Practices in the following areas: Legislative/Congressional Outreach; Incorporation, Bylaws and Fundraising; Export University, the DEC 100 Mentoring Program. We also discussed how to implement DEC strategies and what resources are available to DEC leaders. The 2011 DEC Leadership Forum was sponsored by all 33 Centers for International Business Education and Research.
