What is the Carlson Consulting Enterprise?
The Carlson Consulting Enterprise (CCE) is a two semester class (for undergrads) in which students work on projects for paying clients to provide solutions to their real business issues. The CCE gives students the opportunity to learn how to think like a consultant whether or not they choose to pursue a consulting career. Students develop the critical skill-set of identifying, analyzing and solving complex problems. They will have the opportunity to participate in projects with premier companies, develop relationships with recognized business leaders, and differentiate themselves from other job candidates from competing top-ranked schools.
The client project work is supplemented by a weekly course (Tuesdays 8:00-9:40AM) which teaches methods for problem identification, issue tree mapping, work plan development, project execution, stakeholder management, and presentation construction. This, coupled with traditional business coursework, creates a more skilled graduate and differentiates Carlson School Enterprise graduates from those of other schools.
Additionally, CCE students are allowed exclusive networking opportunities and project feedback with the CCE executive advisory board, made up of local business professionals. Other networking opportunities are available through the extensive & engaged CCE alumni network.
Phil Miller, the CCE’s professional director, also takes a personal interest in supporting CCE students in their job and internship search by providing valuable mentoring and advice. He also writes a career blog that focuses on student career topics.
