Log in to the online application using your University of Minnesota x.500 username and password.

Each program requires a separate application and essay. The online application must be completed in one session.

• Global Enrichment short-term programs: rank up to two programs per application cycle.
• Global Immersion semester or summer programs: rank up to five programs for consideration. We encourage you to select multiple programs, as space at some partner schools is very limited.
• Experiential Programs (MSID or Study & Intern): You must apply through the Learning Abroad Center. These program are NOT listed under Carlson in the online application.

You will be charged one $50 application fee for each academic term you apply for. The fee will be charged automatically when you submit your application.

You will be assigned a checklist of required application materials (essay/statement of interest and resume). All required items must be uploaded by the application deadline.

Undergraduate Global Enrichment short-term programs:

Write an essay of no more than two pages, double spaced, that answers the following questions:

• What are your academic, professional, and cultural goals for studying abroad, and how would this program fulfill them?
• What research have you done on this program and location? What were your key findings?
• What skills and experiences can you contribute to make this program meaningful for the entire group?

Graduate Global Enrichment short-term programs:

Write a statement of interest of one page, double spaced, that explains why you are interested in participating on this program (e.g., impact on your personal, professional, or academic goals, seeking knowledge of the country or region, interest in subject, desire to work on a multicultural team, etc.)

Global Immersion semester or summer programs:

Write an essay of no more than two pages, double spaced, that answers the following questions:

• Describe the research you conducted when selecting this program. How will it advance your academic, professional, and personal goals? (If you applied to more than one Global Immersion program, be sure to specifically address each of them.)
• Participation in a semester or summer program will require a great degree of flexibility, independence, and planning on your part. Describe a time when you demonstrated these qualities to reach a goal.

NEED BASED AWARD:

STATEMENT - Submit a statement if you feel that FAFSA does not accurately reflect your financial need. You may submit a statement of no more than 1 page, double spaced, 12-pt font and normal margins to answer the following question: Describe any personal or family circumstances not reflected in FAFSA that you think qualify you for a need-based award.

CRITERIA - The statement will be reviewed along with FAFSA information to determine eligibility for a need-based award.

MERIT BASED AWARD:

ESSAY - To be considered for merit-based awards, submit an essay of no more than 1 page, double spaced, 12-pt font and normal margins to answer the following question: What international business issue do you find most interesting and why?

CRITERIA - The statement will be reviewed along with GPA and transcript information to determine eligibility for a merit-based award.

Notification of your status will be sent to your University of Minnesota email address within 4 weeks of the application deadline.
