Objective: This course focuses on how entrepreneurs create new businesses and how organizations innovate and change with an emphasis on sustainably focused businesses. The course focuses on how the innovation journey unfolds in the creation of new businesses, technologies, products, programs, and services, and what paths on this journey are likely to lead to success or failure. It will look at Brazilian organizations that have innovated in areas of alternative energy and sustainability.

This course fulfills the Global Perspectives Liberal Education requirement. Prerequisites are MGMT 3010, or MGMT 3001, or instructor permission.
This program is open to University students in good academic standing, with a GPA of 2.5 at the time of application or instructor permission. Students must have completed MGMT 3010, or MGMT 3001, or have instructor permission. Preference will be given to Carlson School students.
The program comprises guest lectures and visits to domestic and multinational companies and non-governmental organizations like Natura, Cargill, SOS Mata Atlantica and Monsanto. Cultural tours and two group dinners will complement the academic program.
Students stay in conveniently-located hotels and will share a room with one or two classmates of their same gender. Because networking and community-building are key parts of the program, students will not have the option of a single room. Guests are not permitted during the program. Breakfast daily, a welcome dinner, and a closing dinner are provided.
These estimates will vary based on student preference and exchange rates. All details subject to change based on economic and international factors. Most financial aid may be applied to study abroad programs.

The application cycle starts on March 1 and the priority deadline is April 1. Applications for programs that do not fill by the priority deadline will be accepted on a rolling basis until full.Â
