The Minnesota Trade Office hosts this roundtable discussion on cultural considerations and business practices in the Middle East.
Hosted by the Minnesota Trade Office. The roundtable discussion will be led by: Sid Ahmed Benraouane, Ph.D., Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota; Nadine Elbitar, owner, Middle East Insights; & Paul Hansen, international trade representative, Minnesota Trade Office.
The Minnesota Trade Office hosts this roundtable discussion on cultural considerations and business practices in the Middle East to help Minnesota companies become more competitive exporting products and services to this growing economic region.
Topics will include:
~ What it means to be Arab;
~ Influence of religion and Arab collectivism;
~ Importance of names;
~ Eating and drinking;
~ Importance of relationships;
~ Business etiquette, negotiating strategies and dispute resolutions;
~ Work patterns of day, week, year and holiday;
~ The role of women living in the region, as well as American women doing business there; and
~ Differences among countries and demographics of the region.
