MBA Course Petition Form

Non-MBA Graduate Student Petition for Full-Time and Part-Time MBA Courses

Graduate students from other U of M departments may use this form to request enrollment in Carlson MBA courses on a space-available basis.

The Carlson School of Management MBA Program allows Non-MBA graduate students to petition to take a maximum of three MBA courses. Requests to be enrolled in additional courses will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Please submit the Non-MBA Graduate Student Petition Form and your unofficial UMN transcript online or print and submit the form and unofficial transcript to MBA Student Affairs.

Registration Timelines

• Summer and Fall 2013 registration in MBA courses (not beginning with "MBA" example: MGMT) will begin after April 24, 2013.
• Summer 2013 registration in MBA-prefix courses (example: MBA 6030) will begin June 6, 2013.
• Fall 2013 registration in MBA-prefix courses (example: MBA 6030) will begin August 28, 2013.

Information About Petitions

• All approvals are issued through MBA Student Affairs; do not seek a permission number from the faculty.

• If the class you are petitioning is closed (full), you will not be enrolled in the class.

• Undergraduate and non-degree seeking students are not permitted to take MBA courses.

• If the course you are requesting has a prerequisite that you have not met, we may refer you to the instructor for permission to enroll.
  
  
• There is no guarantee that you will get into any classes.
  
  
• Not all day/Full-Time MBA courses are open to non-MBA stduents

• All classes can only be taken for a letter grade (A/F); courses cannot be taken as pass/fail (S/N)

• Students will be notified via e-mail of the status of their petition. If the petition is approved please check One Stop registration for the course enrollment. Please allow 5 - 10 business days for processing.

• You will not be added to courses that create scheduling time conflicts.

• HRIR, MBT, Macc, Dental Hygiene and MHA students should petition through their respective department for admission into MBA classes.
