Professor Akshay Rao, the General Mills Chair in Marketing, has been appointed to the policy board of the Journal of Consumer Research, which is published by the University of Chicago Press, for a 3-year term beginning January 1, 2011. The Policy Board is responsible for the development and implementation of the editorial direction and policy of the Journal of Consumer Research, the leading academic journal devoted to research on consumer behavior.
Professor Rao will represent the Association for Consumer Research and will serve with ten other prominent scholars who represent the American Marketing Association, American Anthropological Association, American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, American Association for Public Opinion Research, American Sociological Association, American Statistical Association, Association for Consumer Research, Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, International Communication Association, Society for Consumer Psychology (APA Division 23)
and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology (APA Division 8).
Professor Rao is a member of the JCR editorial review board, a past Co-chair of the Association for Consumer Research Annual Conference, and a frequent contributor to the journal.
