Your Job Search Business Plan
What drives business success? There are many things of course, but a fundamental cornerstone of most success is a well constructed business plan with sound strategies and action steps. Many students forgo the business planning aspect of the job search, believing that being "open" to any opportunity is the best strategy during a down economy. It isn't. The best job search begins with a plan that includes an analysis of your strengths and talents. From this, you can determine your top 1-3 target positions, and preferred industries and companies within those industries in priority order. Finally develop concrete action steps and quantified goals (such as network with 3 individuals from contact list by Oct. 21). The plan will help you to work through your prioritized industries and companies in a systematic and efficient manner. Consider partnering with a fellow student so that you are accountable to each other and stay on task. The GBCC has resources for creating such a plan, including prioritized industry and company lists. The Coaches can work with you to create the best job search business plan for your unique circumstances.
