Gloria Perez is President and CEO of Jeremiah Program, a broad-based collaborative community initiative based in the Twin Cities and focused on assisting low-income single women and their young children. Gloria joined Jeremiah Program in May of 1998 following her role as Executive Director of Casa de Esperanza, a domestic violence agency in Saint Paul, Minnesota. In November 2009, Gloria will receive the Unsung Hero Award from WomenVenture at their annual conference.

The Office for Equity and Diversity is pleased to host the first annual Diversity Networking Reception for diverse undergraduate students. Students who attend the event will have the opportunity to meet and network with potential employers across the Twin Cities metro who are interested in a diverse workforce. Undergraduate student who identify with one or more of the populations served by the Office for Equity and Diversity (students of color, GLBT students, women, and students with disabilities) are invited to attend.

ACADEMICS
New Incomplete Policy The Carlson School faculty have recently approved a new process which requires completion of a formal agreement between the faculty member and student before an incomplete grade can be granted. In order to complete this agreement, the faculty member and student must meet and discuss the terms of the contract prior to the end of the semester.

International Students: A non native speaker section of Mgmt 3033W Business Communications will be offered for the first time in Fall 2010. If you are a non native English speaker, we encourage you to consider taking this section next fall. Additional details will be available when the fall 2010 schedule is posted.
Mgmt 3040 International Environments of Business will be changing from a 3 credit course to a 2 credit course, starting Fall 2010. The course will become the first course in the new International Business major and minor. Students who are completing Mgmt 3040 as part of their overall program requirements may complete either the 3 credit or 2 credit version to meet degree requirements.
Nonprofit majors: Please note that the capstone course for the major is now listed as Mgmt 4000 Issues in Nonprofit Management (formerly BA 4000)
Accounting and Finance majors: If you are planning to take Acct 5101, please remember that you must have either completed Acct 2050 with a B- or better, or have passed the Accounting 5101 pretest before enrolling in the class. Students who have transferred in an equivalent course to Acct 2050 will need to take the pretest, regardless of the grade they earned in the equivalent course. The exam is approximately 3 hours, and a sample pretest is available for practice in the Undergraduate Program office. Please call the Undergraduate Program office front desk (612-624-3313) to make arrangements to take the exam no later than Friday, January 8.
Supply Chain Management Students: Scholarship Available Application period opens between January 4, 2010 and closes February 19, 2010
The Institute for Supply Management? (ISM) is pleased to work with the R. Gene and Nancy D. Richter Foundation in the promotion of the R. Gene Richter Scholarship Program. The R. Gene and Nancy D. Richter Foundation in partnership with the ISM R. Gene Richter Scholarship Fund will provide scholarships of up to $5,000 U.S. dollars to individuals seeking education in the area of supply management or supply chain management for the 2010-2011 academic year.
Eligible students will be entering their senior year and must be enrolled full time in an accredited supply management or supply chain management program with the intention of specializing in the supply management profession. Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on outstanding academic achievement, high ethical standards, and potential to become a future leader in the procurement field.

Interview No Show
Any student who does not arrive for an interview without previously contacting the employer and career center will be counted as a 'no-show'. Any student who no-shows for an interview will have their Edge access revoked as a consequence. The student must e-mail the recruiter while coping edgehelp@umn.edu and meet with a Career Coach to gain back their Edge access.
Interview Cancellations
Students cannot cancel an interview less than 3 business day prior to the interview. If a student must cancel due to illness, family emergency or second round interviews the student must e-mail the recruiter and copy edgehelp@umn.edu on the e-mail. For any other reasons, the student must show up to interview.

It is preferred that students only send resumes if they have completed BA3000. Resumes will be reviewed within 2-3 business days and comments returned to students electronically. This service is available to current Carlson School students only and students with limited resume building knowledge are still encouraged to come in to speak with a Peer Career Coach.

Congress-Bundestag Fellowship in Germany The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX) is a fellowship for college-age students and recent graduates throughout the US who want to live, study, and intern in Germany. CBYX is funded by the US and German governments for students in all career fields, and does not require any prior German language knowledge! Applicants in business, engineering, scientific, vocational, technical, and agricultural fields are especially encouraged to apply. Participants spend a year studying and working in their fields while completely immersed in the German language and culture.
