Rexam management saw the need for a development process which would not only enable Rexam to recruit, develop, and retain the best, but which would also play a part in the integration of the company into one coherent whole. The Horizon Program was launched in late 1998 to address both the developmental and cultural issues. Now in its fourth year, The Horizon Program covers different generations of future managers and leaders in the organization. It begins with the Graduate Program, followed by the Introduction to Management Program, the Advanced Management Program and the Experienced Management Program. Individuals usually work their way up the 'staircase' of programs in the portfolio, but experienced managers who have been identified as high potentials can also be invited to join at a later stage. The multi-modular programs are set up in cooperation with some of the best business schools in the world and combine classroom studies with real life cases. The Carlson School of Management is among these schools. Under the supervision of Rexam, the Carlson School of Management is structuring the Experienced Management Program and the Introduction to Management Program for US participants to focus on people skills, strategic and technical skills, 360 degree feedback and Rexam strategy. The emphasis varies markedly between the programs. The Carlson School of Management is also hosting one module of the Graduate Program and one module of the Advanced Management Program.
