Internships & Careers

University of Minnesota HRIR students have excellent internship and career opportunities. At the Carlson School, we take an individualized approach to helping each student develop a sound career strategy. From the dean's office to program directors, faculty, executive boards, student organizations, and the Graduate Business Career Center, we work in concert to help students reach their professional goals.

Career & InternshipPlacement

Many corporations and agencies visit the Carlson School to recruit HRIR students for management and labor relations positions in the public and private sectors. In the past 3 years, our full-time placement rate has been over 90% for students with permanent work authorization. In 2007, the average starting salary was $67,250.

In 2007, the internship placement rate was 100% for those with permanent work authorization, and 55% for international students without permanent work authorization. The average pay for internships was $26.30/hour. Both the internship and permanent opportunities are truly national in scope with positions from New York to California, Minnesota to Texas, and many places in between.
