Mission Statement

The Part-Time MBA Leadership Advisory Board serves as a liaison between the students and Carlson School leadership and acts as a strategic advisory board to improve the quality, value, and community of the Part-Time MBA Program.

The Leadership Advisory Board consists of Part-Time MBA students representing the general student body and various groups of the Leadership Council. The Board serves a leadership role within the program by:

  • Being a voice to and from the Carlson School leadership and the students
  • Making recommendations on program enhancements (facilities, curriculum, communications, student services, assessment, etc)
  • Promoting annual Welcome Week and year-end student recognition events
  • Hosting biannual Town Hall meeting with students and the Carlson School Deans
  • Ensuring diversity of activities for all students
  • Participating in new student orientation panels and serving as a resource for prospective and current students

The Board consists of 20 students, ideally representing the broad diversity of the Carlson School (industry background, work experience, club involvement, race, gender, etc). Interested students may nominate themselves for membership through the Part-Time MBA Program office. Membership requires a two-year term and the Board meets a minimum of six times a year. The Part-Time MBA Program Assistant Dean facilitates Board meetings.

Leadership Advisory Board Members

The Leadership Advisory Board is one of the clubs and organizations of the Part-Time MBA program. These groups give students the opportunity to become involved in a variety of volunteer events and activities. Involvement beyond the classroom gives students the opportunity to apply their learning in a variety of unique ways, thus enhancing their leadership skills. The MBA Association (MBAA) also has a variety of clubs and organizations for all MBA students. Part-Time MBA clubs and organizations are designed to be a compliment to the MBAA, supporting activities targeted at Part-Time MBA students.
