Darla earned her BA in economics with departmental honors, and a social science minor, at St. Cloud State University in 1997. While in college, she worked as a financial security advisor for four years. After graduation, Darla worked as a government research analyst, a career development facilitator, and a trainer. Darla has also led lectures and facilitated computer labs as a statistics teaching assistant, and will be teaching organizational behavior in Spring 2008. She is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program in Human Resources and Industrial Relations at the Carlson School of Management.


Darla’s research interests focus on stakeholder theory, income inequality, and ethics. Her dissertation is an empirical investigation of how the balance of decision-making control between employers, employees, and customers in organizations affects employee and customer wellbeing. In addition, to complement her four years of practitioner experience, Darla is interested in how job search experiences affect job seeker wellbeing and in employment discrimination. She has presented papers at several conferences and has one joint publication.
