Amit completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the University of Haifa, Israel. He has a dual undergraduate degree in Political Science and Sociology & Anthropology, and his Master’s degree is in Organizational Sociology. He is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program in Human Resources and Industrial Relations at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. His expected graduation date is May 2008.


His past work experience includes work as a safety consultant for the Technion Institute of Technology and the Israel Defense Army. He has taught organizational behavior classes in Israel and at the University of Minnesota, as well as inferential statistics classes in Israel.


Amit received the Ph.D. Student Excellence Teaching Award for the 2005-2006 school year at the University of Minnesota. His research interests include the interface between work and family; work-family balance; union facilitation of family-friendly policies; wage inequality; and job satisfaction. He has presented papers at leading academic conferences.
