Case Competition Information Session

Interested in participating in a case competition? Bring a lunch and hear first hand from fellow classmates about their experiences participating in national competitions. Members of the Student Affairs Office will also be on hand to answer questions about funding and competing.

Honeywell Nobel Lecture: Roderick MacKinnon “Electricity in Biology” - Oct. 1st, 2007

University of MN Institute of Technology is hosting Roderick Mackinnon, winner of the 2003 Noble Prize in Chemistry, for a series of events as part of the Honeywell-Nobel Initiative.  The University of Minnesota is one of only 11 universities worldwide chosen by Honeywell to host  this event. The public events include a lecture, reception and student exhibit. Awarded the Nobel Prize for his “discoveries concerning channels in cell membranes,” MacKinnon will deliver a lecture on “Electricity in Biology.” The event is a free and open to the public.
Lecture: 4:00pm – 5:15pm
Reception: 5:30pm – 7:30pm

Worldwide Opportunities with MBA Enterprise Corps
The MBA Enterprise Corps deploys recently graduated MBA's from top business schools for long-term volunteer assignments around the world. Its goal is to encourage growth in developing nations and emerging economies. Corps volunteers work with clients in a variety of areas: strategic planning, marketing, operations, finance and entrepreneurship. Benefits to volunteers include extensive training, a monthly living allowance, student loan deferment assistance and more.

The purpose is to connect students in the beginning stages of the program with experienced MBA alumni who can provide insight on managing classes, expanding networking opportunities and learning more about what the Carlson School has to offer. If you would like to be matched with a "Contact" partner, please download the application here. Spots may be limited, so sign up today. Applications are due Friday, October 5. The MBA Student Affairs office will match students and their Contacts.

Common Grounds is a student-led organization that provides a forum for graduate students at the University of Minnesota's law, business and policy schools to meet with each other and with local leaders to discuss current issues that cut across private, nonprofit, and government sectors. Common Grounds provides a space for students to try this unique and increasingly important type of collaboration.
