The Engage! search is now available for Twin Cities students and gives undergraduate students an easy way to intentionally connect with meaningful experiences outside of the classroom. The search accesses websites that are directly related to engagement opportunities, such as learning abroad programs, student organizations, community involvement, undergraduate research, and others, so that students can use one search to explore opportunities from a broad range of sources. Students can tailor their searches to specific academic majors and disciplines, and to their other interests and goals.

Honors Thesis Information Session
Wednesday, October 15, 3:00 p.m. - Carlson School L-122

All Honors students planning to graduate in Spring 2010 and after will be required to complete a thesis in order to graduate with Latin Honors. Come find out the details of this requirement and the various paths available to you as you work toward this goal. This session is highly recommended for all juniors participating in Carlson School Honors and the University Honors Program. The program is open to interested sophomores and freshmen as well.

Phi Delta Theta Pallas Book Scholarship

The Phi Delta Theta Fraternity is offering four (4) $250 book scholarships to all non-greek male students this fall. The Truman Scholarship provides up to $30,000 for graduate or professional school. Campus application deadline: Friday, November 7.

Travelers Day for Freshmen and Sophomores

Come spend the day with Travelers and discover what opportunities await you! Freshman and sophomores of all majors and backgrounds are invited to attend the Travelers Site Visit. We will provide transportation to and from the Carlson School, at no charge to you. The day will begin with an introduction and breakfast by Travelers executives. Next, you will join functional groups for a job shadow experience (i.e. actuarial, general management, finance, sales/marketing, HR, MIS/IT, etc.). Following lunch, students and Travelers employees will participate in a community service event. Afterwards, students will board the bus back to the Carlson School. Sign up for this event today! $10.00 and hour

Carlson Study Abroad Scholarship applications are now being accepted online. Don't miss this chance to apply for merit and need-based scholarships to support your study abroad experience. Students on the following programs are eligible for this application cycle: Accounting 3001, Global Immersion Spring Semester Exchanges, Winter session and Spring Semester Learning Abroad Center programs, and Winter/Spring outside programs. Awards vary by the quality and quantity of the applicant pool. Students should apply even if they are unsure of their acceptance status on the qualified programs. University of Minnesota Study Abroad Scholarship
Deadline: Wednesday, October 22

Each year the University of Minnesota distributes approximately $500,000 for study abroad scholarships. The scholarship deadline for Winter Break 2009, Spring Semester 2009, and Calendar Year 2009 is Wednesday, October 22. The application can be used to apply for the Study Abroad Scholarship, Diversity in Study Abroad Scholarship, and the Access Abroad Scholarship.

Selection of scholarship recipients is not based on financial need or merit, but rather the essays that each student writes. Currently one-third of all students who apply receive a scholarship. If you are a student who will be studying abroad for Winter Break 2009, Spring Semester 2009, or Calendar Year 2009, visit the Learning Abroad Center’s scholarship webpage at umabroad.umn.edu/financial/scholarships/uofmScholarships.html.

Eti-Cate Yourself!  Make dinning your "forkte"  
Wednesday, October 15 - Sign Up in Carlson School Atrium

Come brush up on your etiquette skills and "make dinning your forkte" while working on your networking skills. This FREE etiquette dinner is sponsored by Truth in Business and Thrivent Financial and will also feature representatives from other big companies who you will be available to speak with.  The event is limited to the first 100 students to sign up, and will require a $20 deposit which will be refundable upon arrival to the dinner.  Look for Truth in Business Representatives in the atrium beginning Wednesday, October 15 to sign up. The event will be at 5:30 in the Carlson Formal Dinning Room.

Career and Internship Fair Grants for Carlson Organizations

The Carlson School's Career and Internship Fair Committee would like to make a portion of the proceeds from the Career and Internship Fair available to official Carlson School undergraduate student organizations. Grants will range in amount from $500 - $2,000 and are intended to provide financial support for activities that both build Corporate Partnership with the Carlson School and that are available to, and inclusive of, ALL CARLSON SCHOOL STUDENTS (in addition to club members). Senior Case Competition Update
We had a total of seven teams compete on Friday, September 26 for the Senior Case Competition.

Interviews for prospective freshman and transfer student ambassadors are complete. On Friday and Saturday we spent the weekend at Camp Ihduhapi for our retreat. All of us are very excited for the year!
