As of Monday, October 27, breakout rooms in the Carlson School of Management building will be secured with card readers 24 hours a day.

  • Access will be by authorized U Card only.
  • All Carlson School students, faculty, and staff will be authorized for access to these rooms.
  • Students, faculty, and staff whose primary academic home is outside the Carlson School will not be given access to these rooms and may not use them unless accompanied by an authorized Carlson School user.
  • The equivalent rooms in Hanson Hall will be switched to card access as soon as possible.
  • These rooms will continue to be governed by the existing reservation system.

Carlson students without reservations may use the rooms 24/7, with the following restrictions:

  • If someone else has a reservation, the individual with the reservation has precedence.
  • If the room is reserved for a class, class usage takes precedence.
  • If Facilities Management requests that the room be vacated in order to clean it, users are expected to leave promptly.
  • Carlson users who refuse to vacate a room when requested risk loss of access privileges.
  • In order to provide FM with access for cleaning, reservations will only be taken until 10:00 p.m.  After that, rooms are on a first-come, first served basis. If it turns out that there is more demand than there are available rooms, reservation hours will be extended.
