The Alpha Kappa Psi Scholarship Fund is awarding housing scholarships to students who attend the Carlson School of Management who have strong academic records and leadership experience. This year, up to six scholarships will be awarded, each worth $8,400 for twelve months of housing at the Alpha Kappa Psi house. You do not have to be a member of Alpha Kappa Psi to qualify for these scholarships, but scholarship recipients are required to live at the Alpha Kappa Psi house. Alpha Kappa Psi members will not be given preferential treatment for these scholarships.
Volunteers Needed for the Spring Undergraduate Career and Internship Fair!

The Carlson School’s Spring Undergraduate Career and Internship Fair needs help from you to assist with set-up, clean-up, registration, and various other tasks on the day of the event. Volunteers are needed to fill two-hour time slots beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors are all welcome and encouraged to volunteer.
This is a great opportunity to get involved in Carlson School activities and network with fellow students and company recruiters. The event is conveniently located at McNamara Alumni Center, two minutes from the Superblock. Student Lounge & Breakout Room Access
As a Carlson School undergraduate, you can gain access to the secured Student Lounge in L-100 Hanson Hall and the breakout rooms with the new “smart” UCard. The new smart card is distinguishable by the orange numbers located on the upper right corner on the back of the card. If you do not have a smart card, plan on picking it up at Coffman Memorial Union by 1/30/09.
To receive the smart card at no cost, bring in your current UCard (along with a government issued ID), otherwise the charge is $15 to you. You will then be given access by 2/6/09. Thereafter, we will provide access at monthly intervals when you provide your smart card information in the Undergraduate Program office, 2-190 Hanson Hall. If you have difficulties with your smart card access, go to UCard Access at: carlsonschool.umn.edu/Page4533.aspx and complete the form.

Be a Welcome Week Leader!

This volunteer position will help current U of M students gain valuable leadership experience and will focus on providing a quality transitional experience for first-year students. Leaders will receive training throughout the spring on group facilitation, campus resources, and University expectations. The 2009 President's Student Leadership and Service Awards
All staff, faculty, administrators, and students are encouraged to nominate current University students for this prestigious award, presented annually to one-half of one percent of all University students. These awards honor the accomplishments of outstanding students and their invaluable contributions of leadership and service to the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and the community. Undergraduate recipients of the President's Student Leadership and Service Award may also be considered for the Donald R. Zander Award for Outstanding Student Leadership (a $1,000 scholarship given to two recipients) and the University of Minnesota Alumni Association Student Leadership Award (a $500 scholarship given to eight recipients).
All Students Volunteer for College Awareness Day - Wednesday, February 11
Only a small time commitment is required - one hour for the event and one hour for an information session.

Volunteers will read and discuss I Know I Can, a children’s book that introduces college awareness in a context that young children can understand. You will define college, discuss the benefits, and explain the pathway that students must take to turn their aspirations into a college degree. 2,700 third graders attending Minneapolis public schools will participate in the Minneapolis I Know I Can College Awareness Day. The event will bring over 200 volunteers into classrooms to share the significance of making college attendance an aspiration.

Local ASWA Chapter Scholarship
The Mildred Dahl Scholarship Fund of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA) providing one or more scholarships to women undergraduate students majoring in accounting attending a Minnesota college and university.
National ASWA Scholarship
Women accounting students also have the opportunity to be sponsored by the Minneapolis-St. Paul Chapter for an additional scholarship through ASWA National.

The MEF scholarship will consider all IMA members who have not previously received an IMA Scholarship in the classification category. SCMS Scholarship applicants are also considered for to receive the prestigious Stuart Cameron and Margaret McLeod Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $5,000. The R. Gene Richter Scholarship for Supply Chain Students Entering Senior Year

The Institute for Supply Management(TM) (ISM) is pleased to work with the R. Gene and Nancy D. Richter Foundation in the promotion of the R. Gene Richter Scholarship Program. The R. Gene and Nancy D. Richter Foundation in partnership with the ISM R. Gene Richter Scholarship Fund will provide scholarships of up to $5,000 U.S. dollars to individuals seeking education in the area of supply management or supply chain management for the 2009-2010 academic year. Eligible students will be entering their senior year and must be enrolled full time in an accredited supply management or supply chain management program with the intention of specializing in the supply management profession. Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on outstanding academic achievement, high ethical standards, and potential to become a future leader in the procurement field.

Summer Fellowships offered in Washington D.C. Application Deadline Sunday, February 1
Any Asian American undergraduate student with at least a 3.0 GPA is eligible to apply. Applicants must be United States citizens. Interested students can visit ILF's website at ILEADER.org to apply online or to obtain more information. The ILF works with government agencies to place each Fellow in his or her area of interest. Each Fellow receives a stipend of $1,500, funded by the ILF and its sponsors. Students must pay for their own travel, housing and living expenses during their fellowships. ILF Fellows attend weekly seminars and other events to learn about government, in addition to their internships.

Interns work in an English-language classroom four days a week. One day is open for research and other activities. Program duration: June 6 to July 4, 2009.
