GBCC Tip of the Week
With or without a formal summer internship or project lined up, it is important to take some time to prepare for a successful experience. This is a great time to make new professional connections - not only at work, but by volunteering and attending professional association networking events. Keeping in touch with your classmates is also a great way to expand your network to include their new contacts as well. Also, don't forget to keep your professional image at the top of your mind. As temperatures increase, your professional polish should not decline. Do your research and follow company guidelines, yet dress a bit more formal & conservative than your peers. Remember that every interaction is part of an overall evaluation, so keep your wardrobe and behavior professional at all times. Lastly, make the most of the experience, even if you discover the company, industry, or function is not the best fit. Show your gratitude for the opportunity and reflect on how the experience will shape and transfer to your next career move.
